its not just vortex wars. Its the main playerio server. Other multiplayer games are also experiencing this.

As to some sort of announcement, we can see the server is down. Common sense dictates that lopdo is trying to fix it. Do you really need an anouncement to tell you that? If its within lopdos power to fix this, then it'll be fixed when lopdo fixes it, if its outside of lopdos control, it'll be fixed when the servers get back up

I just came back from playing DC Universe online and the server is still crashed!! Whats happening!!!!!!!

Player.io servers (which I am using as well) are having big problems and since it is weekend there is noone that can do anything about it. I don't have access to them, so all I can do it is watch and weep. It will be hopefully sorted out tomorrow. I am sorry for inconvenience
