Gmail, laptops next to each other, msn, facebook, phone, etc. The in-game chat isn't the only chat platform one can use. I sometimes team up with a real-life friend to teach him/her the game, we talk on gmail or over the phone and we're accused of being the same person.

also doing this may seem innocent but its a huge advantage to be able to completely trust and coordinate someone your playing with and while technically not against the rules, it's just plain not cool.
