Personally, I am neutral in that argument, but feel it ought to be argued.

Throwing myself under the bus here, but as someone who identifies as 'gay,' that is offensive, regardless of the opinion of whether or not 'straight' males believe it to be. Urban Dictionary, too, is not a website that gives any validity to the usage of the term as an insult.

I myself, as a straight male do not take offence to being called gay, but I feel hurt when people use the word "gay" in that way. It is not meant for that use and should not be done so.

It's that type of ignorance that has allowed for the GOP to include people that believe homosexuals as inferior human beings as well as sub-human and should be deported.

Except etymologically, that's not even where it comes from. The current pejorative use of "gay" does not come from the use of it as meaning "homosexual"; rather, they both came at the same time from the earlier use, both developing from the meaning "uninhibited by moral constraints", usually referring to prostitutes. In the view of being okay with homosexuality, the fact that the word "gay" means homosexual is what should be insulting, not the fact that it is also a pejorative

The pejorative usage is a present meaning, and is closer to the past meaning.
