you mean SHMUP? it was the very first game I made and I made couple while I learned various things (they never got finished and all of them sucked) and I would love to make one that could actually be called a proper game

Actually it means barrage. The subgenre is defined by Touhou who is mostly a clean danmaku but have spinoffs where like photgraphy games and fighting games. The photgraphy games are still danmakus, but nt about shooting. Personally I find the games has too low percentage of female characters and I hope new girls will be introduced. And Necro there are lots of males in Touhou.
