Yeah, if we do end up trying to move on together, I think we should stick together in our clans. It seems better that way. But it shouldn't be one clan, that would get dull really fast, unless there were other comparable clans in the new game already.

If worst comes to worst, we can all move to ShellShock. Doesn't seem like that'll be dying any time soon.

In response - this is from the Ask Lopdo thread:

Lopdo wrote:my next project is another awesome game :) I will show you something when I have something more to show

I am awaiting the next "Big Thing" from Lopdo - and I predict that Vortex Wars will be our springboard to that. This game, here and now, will last us long enough to bring us to that. :D

Come on Lopdo - a few update(s) to the current game - draw in new wave of players - hit us with a taste of the next "awesome game" and we (and the new guys) take the plunge. All it has to be is amazing and within the next 8 to 12 months - [unless you change your mind and give us VW 3.0 then we have longer].
In Vortex Wars: 50% of the game is luck. 50% is skill. The other 50% is math.

I have to say, I probably would not move on to a very well established game. I'm hoping Lopdo's new project works out (though VW probably still has several months at least left anyway)

I think the game has somewhere between six months to a year left. It will still "exist" after that, but not as we know it today.

This is just my opinion.

It was not long ago that I thought this game would never end and that different waves of new players would join, the game would get a few updates here and there, maybe a major update with VW 3.0 after Lopdo finds time. Then as you point out - Lopdo says that is not to be - he sees stopping work on it and it must end as all online games do. I too have been hit by the loss of Ozserf and for the last two days have been thinking about "The End" as an all-too real event.

As I write this now though, I realize that the game itself is not that old - I have been here since the beginning (although it took me a long time to join the forum) - I joined the game somewhere before version 0.14.

I also realize that the game is still here and whether the end comes in 6 month or a year - that is a long time compared to the short time it has existed at all.

I then come to the conclusion that Lopdo is most likely to release his next "Big Thing" sometime while most of us are still here. And if I am right about that I look forward to the following:

> A few updates to the main game
> New players to the game and forum
> Buzz when Lopdo announces the beta version of his next "Big Thing"
> Many of us getting hooked on the next game and then
> Many of us - as a community - continuing on to the next Lopdo creation
>>>We will want to continue as our current usernames - and we will lock them in right away
>>>We will recognize many of our friends that we have now
>>>We will become the founding members of what will now be the latest thing that will catch fire and attract a major number of new players in a game that will last for years as this one has.

So - I am placing my hope against your original post on one thing: Lopdo - your next "Big Thing" better be great - I want to be a part of it if you can deliver! :D

you make this new game sound like the friggan afterlife
but this happened to me once. a group of about 20 guys. the game was fun, it had about 100k people! that was at its peak, though. so it was like this, a bunch of people in game, but then alot fewer people on the forum. i played for about a year and a half - 2 years.

it went down like this.
first, the game started to get really inactive, fewer and fewer people playing. the forum was getting really slow, but like i said, there were about 20 active guys. then, unexpectedly, the mod just up'n left. 0 warning whatsoever. she had done it before, but then come back. but this time we could tell something was up. the game got really glitchy. then i found this game. i showed a few of the guys, they thought it was cool, but then my old game died. stopped. completely shut off. didn't even get a chance to say goodbye. the forum stopped, so i didn't see any of them. and i've never seen any of them ever after that. probably won't see 'em ever again. or at least I won't recognize them. like fang said, it was really depressing. i knew these guys, but then they were gone. forever. ripped my heart out (it's a little much, but it was painful, nonetheless)
the only one i've remotely talked to was on another game, he showed me, but i haven't played in forever.

so be wise guys. make sure you have a fallback. if for some sad reason vortex wars just quits on us one day, let's be ready.

In the event of a Vortex collapse, the official protocol right now would be to meet in the most popular off site location: The VW Chatroom. At least, that's the Wolf plan, and it works because the Creed at least in on too, and other players.

That would save the two top clans (those on there could pass it on to those who aren't via their own sites), and Ryan is there from time to time as well, so the Soldiers could move on too.

Problem with that is that most of us aren't likely to be there all at the same time- it would be better to use something not live, like a forum. Out of vanity, I would suggest the WC forum.

true. that has no connection to vortex wars at all. (not under lopdo control)
so it would work fine
