Tiny territories in random maps

Postby 1728 » Mon Nov 07, 2011 10:58 am

Some territories in random maps are really tiny, almost completely covered by the race logo, making likely to click on the wrong territory when on a hurry.
It's the first time I've seen this, I attach a screenshot with two such territories, in the top-right corner and in the bottom-left one.

That could be a problem huh? I know that some territories are like that when you play maps created by players but I have never seen this before either. Are you sure it wasn't a user map?

Yes I'm pretty sure it was a random map. I was very surprised too since it was the first time I saw something like that.

Ditto, I am thinking also that this was just a user map. I too, in my 2000 games, have never seen one like this in a random generated map. But I have in user maps!

User maps can have small regions, but random shouldn't anymore. I apparently caused little bug by one of previous fixes but that should be ok now... let me know if you find tiny regions in random maps again

Dear techgump, I've seen it as well few times on random maps lastly, but none yet today. Such a small region cannot be placed on user made maps. Editor prints an error. They're most likely to appear on L and XL maps from what I've observed, never seen one on XXL. I'm just hunting for them, if i'll spot one, I'll post it here.

Cool. Looks like there was a bug according to Lopdo's previous post, so I guess it should be fixed.
That said, there are User maps I know for a fact that have these super small properties. Probably made before an update Lopdo applied to prevent it. Play "Clover" user map to see it.

User maps can still have smaller regions, it is up to author to make sure map is playable, not me

Actually I would not agree with that. First of all we must assume that most of the community are braindeaths. And thats mostly true. First implication are unplayable, boring and just stupid maps. In conjugation with poor map searching engine and defective rating system it brings us to community playing mostly on tragicaly designed maps or few well known ones. First is discouraging, second is boring. Thats why I've posted idea of moderating and dleting "bad" maps cause they do more harm than good. In some games (most of those I know) user made maps are automaticaly deleted when they've got under 30-50% rating.
