Alliance option Poll (Please vote)

Postby alekp51 » Mon Nov 07, 2011 1:42 am

Hey guys,

I wanted to see what people thought about having an alliance option in the game. This option would compose of both players clicking a button that said "alliance." If you and your ally won, you would automatically draw. You could only end this alliance if you both selected the "end alliance" button. Once allied, you can not attack your ally unless you both decide to end your alliance. The alliance status could be shown where the draw status is shown, and likewise the button would be where the draw button is. The ally status would be public and only available in 4 player maps or bigger. Alliances would not be available for guests.

Lopdo, feel free to make any changes to what i said.

Please Note, alliances would be different from teams in that you would not be a permanent member of a certain group. It would be one game only. Also, i do not have the power to implement this. It is only a Poll to show Lopdo what his community wants.

And alliance button as you have offered would kill the ability to backstab, which as stated is the official VW take on alliances.

True, but you don't have to have this type of alliance. You can still do it mentally instead of physically.

This game reminds me of A Song of Ice and Fire because of all the backstabbing. There's a chat screen for alliances if you wish. I think it would be a bad idea to actually implement a system of alliances because it would prevent backstabbing.

Think about your idea for a second. Let's assume it happened. Even when you team up with someone, you must sometimes eat through a piece to help isolate him from foes or to perform a task. What if you were trapped by your ally, unable to move, and your ally helped your enemy expand and then the enemy kills you and then your ally and the enemy draw at the end?

Just... bad idea... :D

I guess your right, but it is nice sometimes to have a good ally. And remember, If Jon Snow's dad had listened to the King's brother(King Renley? I can't remember the names....), they would have been in complete control of the Empire.

Eddard Stark could have bent the knee in front of Cersei Lannister and would have been pardoned to live the rest of his days as lord Stark. He died because of his honor and failure to recognise when he has lost. You say that he would be alive if he listened to Renly Baratheon and took arms against the queen, but he would never have done that, as it was an affront against his old friend, Robert Baratheon... I have to read it again to remember the circumstances exactly, but I'm pretty sure Eddard's life was forfeit as soon as he set foot in King's Landing. Political backstabbing is not his game.

he is too good and proud to be part of politics, that was his undoing :( What I love about those books is that noone is safe, not even main characters, you don't see it that often.

and btw, I am not finished with books yet, so no spoilers please, spoiler == ban :P

Lol, it's a great series! I still haven't read a Dance With Dragons, though.... Have you read the Inheritance books so far, too? It came out today, YAY!!

I think the most successful character in King's Landing is Tyrion, and he sure isn't honest, but i'm not sure he back stabs either. However, he'll do anything to do what he wants, and i guess that would be back stabbing if the chance arose.
