The year is 2142 AD. Earth is falling due to nuclear pollution caused by WWIII. Communist China allied with Communist Russia to develop a new kind of weapon. Nuclear, yes. This was different. The Atlas was a nuclear bomb that was developed by a Chinese scientist by the name of Tai Suki, but the Russians had the necessary materials. The Atlas is different from other nuclear bombs in the fact that it is microscopic and airborne. It was released by air to the general population of Earth. The only thing we had going for us was the fact that humans were naturally immune to the Atlas. It still managed to infect a few hundred thousand people. The infected emitted lethal doses of radiation to there surrounding habitat yet they never died because of it. As the infected continued their life as usual they infected more and more people. Once the governments discovered what had happened they tried to contain it, but they were unsuccessful. The Atlas started killing people and as more and more died the public started to panic. Currently the governments are declaring martial law. There is talk of the government shooting those they contain.
Chapter One- Discovery

Jonathan Rikes, Entry One. Sol Date 1142142
Earth is dying. The ecosystem is falling apart, governments are falling apart. Electricity is gone, the radiation is affecting everything unprotected. The only reason I'm able to write this entry is because I'm one of the Selected. The USA,UK,Canada, and Australia have put there smartest people to work on a cure. We all know there isn't one, at least not one that can be discovered and deployed quick enough to save us all. There's one thing in common with the Selected though. We are immune. They say that the immunity is temporary, that it is chance. I don't care, I'm just glad I'm not sick. Rumor has it that the government has a backup plan. There has to be a reason they picked us though, when we were selected they said they wanted a cure. The thing is not very many of us are doctors, most of us are engineers and physic scientists. I'm scared. I just hope that whatever happens I'll make it out of this. End Recording.
"Yo Rikes! Whats up man!", said my friend Riley. Riley's this African American guy I've been friends with since Pre-K, he's pretty cool but he doesn't know when to shut up.
"Whats up? The world is coming to a freaking end and we don't know crap about why the UN has us locked up in this damn hellhole! That's whats up."
"Woah bro, calm it down. Just be glad we're not out there."
"That's my point Riley, were in here in this..this place while all our friends and family are dying out there."
"Way to kill the mood Jonny boy, I'll see you in the mess hall."
I look around and shudder for the millionth time today as I notice the cameras mounted in the corners of the ceiling. I don't feel so good but that is to be expected after they drove us to the Compound in that humvee. I stretch and get up out of my crappily cushioned bed. "Lets see what happens today" I think to myself.
"Hey Rikes!" I here a shout as I sit down at a table with no one at it.
"Rikes, Getchyo ass ovah here man!"
"Ok ok Riley, there's no need to rush me"
"I here the Commander will be telling us what were all here during announcements"
"Really?" I reply.
"Yup", Riley replied noisily as he shoved his mouth full of whatever slime they served us.
"Aren't you going to eat?"
"Not hungry", I snap back as I take a look around.
**BEEP** The blare of the message system interrupts everyone's conversations **Make your way to the debriefing room**
"Looks like we'll find out what the hell were going to be doing for the rest of our lives after all", I say to Riley
"Yea, looks that way", Riley responds. Riley seems to be a little quieter than usual.
As we walk in to the debriefing room everyone's attention is brought immediately to a man standing on the platform in front of us. He was in full military getup and seemed like the kind of guy that would kill you if you looked at him cross-eyed.
"Take your seats", said the man in a gruff voice.
"Your all probably wondering what your doing here aren't you?" He nearly yelled at us.
"Well your not finding a cure that's for sure, Earth is falling apart and there is no way to cure it"
"You are in one of the only safe havens in the world and it won't be staying that way for long"
"Work has been started on a way to cleanse Earth, a way to wipe the radiation forever"
"You must be wondering why we picked soldiers and engineers for this project aren't you?"
"We plan to cleanse the planet with a chemical known as F3pt, It is an acid that only affects living matter."
"That in itself isn't to rare, but what is rare is the fact that it neutralizes radiation"
"After the Earth has been cleansed we will set to work on terraforming our surroundings and eventually recolonize Earth"

Chapter Two- Revelation

As we walk back to our quarters me and Riley are awkwardly quiet. We enter the room and I plop down on the bed. I turn to Riley and say
"How can they do this? How can they just pour acid on Earth and kill all of there families? It's wrong, it's SICK"
"The government can do anything man, just be glad there not testing the acid on us", he replies.
"Yet"
"Oh come on don't be that way", he sighs.
**BEEP** That goddamn message system is going again. **Work shifts will be disclosed tomorrow morning, for now get all the rest you can. You'll need it"

I don't know if I can do this. Help them with there plans, I know it's the best option but its so inhumane. They think they can just recolonize and terraform this place afterwards? The Earth is going to be destroyed and nothing will grow without extreme care. I think there's more to this than they are telling us.
