I appreciate that - my question was about the free rice website itself. They are not the UN. The website claims that they donate money to the UN program that distributes food. The site was made up by one guy and then founded a non-profit. Sorry if I am skeptical of a website that says - click a bunch of stuff and we will donate money - my first thought is computer virus or spyware.

This reminds me of those stupid things we used to do at school. My opinion, there're starving children who might die, you have the food to feed them, but you'll keep it from them unless we do stupid math.

The website answers this question. They don't have the money or the rice sitting around. When you click it generates ad banners - that gives money to the site which they donate to the UN rice program. Seems like a legitimate and novel approach.
