well that's the problem when people make 8 player games on small maps... whether this is here or not, people are still forced to start next to others

Solution: dont join an 8 player smallmap game just join another one

For big maps: just attack the player that started next to you or allie with him/her if possible

That's not a good solution. It really just leaves your whole game to chance right in the beginning just because of some idiot or noob.

I like the game. I don't like stupid noobs/choobs. So should I not play stupid noobs/choobs? Yes. But is there a way to avoid that? No.

Just add a rule on bigger map, L-XL that no player may spawn right next to another, and on XXL 2 tiles away.
This ways, you don't have problem for smallest maps, and everybody is happy !
(And committing suicide to kill a random enemy is no "part of the game", or we're not playing the same game... Japanese kamikazes did have a greater goal, random guys haven't...)

Oh, and, you may want to balance starting position order to denied people from abusing this rule.
