No upgrades is good, how else should noobs and guests be able to play without being crushed? its only fair to make that an option

noobs and guests get crushed because of bad skill, not lack of upgrades. that's why all the noobs buy upgrades- they aren't good enough to win without them

I would think more options might be in order first:

Enabled <--> No Boosts <--> No Boosts or Races <--> Disabled

So something on that order. The question would be how to make it fair, understandable, and not take 13 states.

Yep i like the game.. but if there would be no option for making non upgrade games I would only play in self-hosted rooms and kick people who would use 3 attack/3 def items in every match.
It isnt fair for someone who would play 10$ in coin for ~66 games with 3 atck/3 def items each, but it's just too much of an disadvantage for me to play regulary vs. people who could spend that much ;).

In the current system i could still see me buying boosters and play these kind of games from time to time... but without 2 playlists.. no.. just no. :|

I'd be willing to bet that a large portion of these games are just to lazy to change things from their default settings. Set "Upgrades Enabled" as the default, and you should be seeing a larger portion of those games.

I was just thinking that a couple of days ago. That's probably why when all the noobs came in there were so many 8 player small map games.

So unless I'm missing something, Boosts give you 1 reroll.

On an attack move, this means that if you don't win the first time, you get a second try.

On a defense, this means if the attack succeeds, they need to redo it. This is automatic.

Here's the thing though, The attack boost is only good once, and is used weather you needed it or not. The defense boost is persistant until it looses, but it's only as good as the defense. Rerolling 8v1 just means you get the tar beat out of you twice. Over all three boosts per game isn't unbalancing. Even unlimited attack boosts (that techgump mentioned elsewhere) isn't unbalancing, though it does suck for lopdo, as he's not getting paid for those.

the big thing this blocks in the Unit count upgrade. That is POWERFUL. I actually came back from a 25 v 42 game against demons the other night, mainly because I could outspend him by 10 per round.
