I'm sure someone will say 'oh i thought about this already' or 'this has already been posted', but I didn't see it via the search and have never seen it proposed in a match before.
Scenario: You're heads-up with just one other opponent at the end of a match, and circumstances have led you two to agree on a draw.
Alternative: Instead of drawing, you 'flip a coin' to see who surrenders in 2nd place and who takes the cake. Here's how it works:
1. You find a matchup of an 8v8, neither territory having a defense boost.
2. You decide who attacks who. The attacker should not have an attack upgrade UNLESS the defender has an EQUAL defense upgrade.
3. You attack once, no attack boost. If the attacker wins, the defender surrenders in 2nd. If the defender wins, the attacker surrenders.
That way, somebody wins and loses and it will actually take less time than negotiating a draw. Obviously if you WANT to draw that's fine, but this is offers a chance for someone to take the winning perks without having to slug through an XXL map to do so.
There will obviously be some matchup problems, occasionally. For instance, if the two races that are heads-up are Undead and Vampires, Undead will always have the disadvantage and it will not work. There are some special races that have more than a 5% upgrade and that will cause problems as well.
Despite the occasional matchup problem, the 'coinflip' is a fun and quick alternative to drawing or spending another hour trying to defeat an evenly-matched opponent. Try it out next time you get into the face-off scenario with an equal opponent; the 'gamble' it adds gives the game some excitement!
