I'd like a rule that still allows occasional allied games, like for clan wars, but as long as that's good, im with bit.

I have no idea how you could ever enforce this - but I voted yes anyway.

Unless you are playing some defined clan war or game where the title clearly states allies - then I like to go by one rule:

Everyone should be acting in their own best interest while attempting to win first place.

If everyone does that - the only "ally-like" moments you would have would be when you focused on a player that gets too powerful for your position at the moment and you would go back to attacking the best path to first place for you when they were down to manageable size.

Again - no idea on how to enforce this - but allying is against the spirit of the game unless you agree to it before the map starts.
In Vortex Wars: 50% of the game is luck. 50% is skill. The other 50% is math.

Really, all that's needed is an option for the host to put up a cute little warning sign that pops up when you click on game name and tells if anything special will happen in game ('allies' for instance). It would then allow you to continue or go back to lobby. This would take like two seconds and prevent misunderstandings.

A note like this would also allow two friends to challenge others or offer a place to say it's a clan game so you have to kick fewer people.
I honestly don't remember why I decided to type everything in blue.

I believe there is nothing wrong with allying as long as it is not secretive and as long as it is fair. 2v2 yes. 2v6 no...

I wish that if a host says no allies then that should be respected.

Yes. If the host picks no allies then there should be no allies. But if the title of the game is 2 v 2 v 2
Then its ok. Or have opition when making a game to have no allies.
