Reznorock:

I completely agree with most of posters in this thread.
I prefer free for all. I know it's not the only way to play VW. You like to ally ? fine.... BUT...

One thing is probably best for everyone: FAIR PLAY. Ever heard about it ? Noticed how chat can actually get friendly when all play fair ?

So only change 1 thing in your attitude, and it might get better: claim clearly, openly, before game starts (when waiting for it to start, or just when map appears), who your ally (allies) is (are). Just try it once.

And you'll discover that:
- people will go less mad, at least not ban you
- allying openly before people first pick starting land (all the rest being unfair for some players at least) is not such a great advantage :)

But you probably already know for the 2nd point, which is, maybe  , why you prefer to try secret allies ?

I generally don't care if someone knows im allied with someone or not, but regardless of whether they know or not doesn't necessarily make it fair play. There are many things that can occur during a game, whether people are allied or playing solo that are (or at least seem) unfair. I could indeed inform people regardless, but it doesn't mean people are necessarily going to be alright with it. I have tried it, several times, for some unknown reason the reaction ive gotten has been worse than when people figure it out for themselves, makes no sense whatsoever.

Informing of alliances is the best practice, undoubtedly. Alliance are a form of cheating imo, but what really burns me is when the alliance is unsaid. This is dishonest to everyone else that plays the game. You might as well just be playing with a multi-account. I don't see how you can actually rationalize that a silent alliance is fair to others. This means that a team starts out with twice as much property, when compared the Individuals who play as the game was intended. It is nothing less than a dirty, cheap, dishonest form of playing. Your right, you don't care, and that is part of the problem. You are on my banned list now.

I understand what you mean with some people acting worse when you tell them about allying. These people are just being a general nuisance to others, but a way past this problem is to mute the person. That way you don't hear any violent or rude comments said towards you and you can continue the game normally.

That person simply can't join any games of the person who banned him, and the person who banned him won't see him or his comments in the lobby.

Sort of, but not absolutely exact... See Lopdo's explanation in this thread:
http://www.vortexwars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=2653

So you anyway chose if you want to accept a player you have once banned in the game or not. You are just warned that a banned player is about to start the same game as you.

The main idea of the ban list is that there are plenty of people we all like to play with, some we don't, and tons of players we've never met. So the ban list is just an automatic reminder of who you decided you did not want to play with anymore...
