May be possible that a reset does not get rid of the bug but does just what it says i.e. reset you back to 1500 yet in your next game all those who lose immediately drop back down to the magic number again. Who's to say a reset will destroy the bug? People can still have the bug yet not have their ratings affected.
I think reset is probably in order, but I also think it is a possibility that the underlying cause may have to be resolved initially before a reset will be of any use.

I am no computer genius I can't say for sure. I am just going by the logic that treating the symptoms doesn't necessarily cure the disease

I don't think this is going to be the situation.
I don't have much experience, but i recall that things like that may happen due to an invalid imput of data into an algorithm. My guess is that someone hacked his R making a mistake somewhat, his value generated an invalid imput in the R algorithm of the people he played against, when R is recalculated after a game, thus generating this negative R, and so it spread among players.
I think this can't be worse than that becouse no other aspect of the game is affected, not that i know of at least.
If that was the case, i guess that a reset of the ratings would be enough.

Many people who hasnt affected has used temporarily accounts, or stick weith the old accounts to shop caht and daily bonus. Btw does you get it when you first get into a room or when the game starts? We can only know affected fro sure not carriers. Otherwise the game cntinues as normal. But due to loss of rank players are not as thoughtful as they seemed to be before this started. I hop Mr Wolf realizes he isnt on the forum when i write this. Iv been a member longer than him(yay for me) Mr Wolf hope he gets off my back; will immediately be in charge of evacuations. Some people are trying to spread their diseases just to make tgis worse. mBut i think everyone need to has it. Otherwise it doesnt seem fair to reset the rank. That is in a overall perspective. The more yoghurt we gey the mbugs VW2 will attract.

Are we implying we may have to end the plague at its source, as in ban the "patient zero" of the disease and then do a rating reset? Not to mention we'd have to patch up the security holes that allowed the infection in the first place too.

My thoughts were more along the line of, is it possible that everyone who caught the "bug" now has something underlying in their profile? which even if their rating is reset will their rating just bomb again?
If this is the case will a patch need to be put in place before anything is really solved and a reset of ratings is any use.
As I say I am no expert and am just throwing my brainfarts out for everyone to see.

Somehow I doubt that it is a coincidence that if you divide max int size on 32-bit systems (to get max size for signed ints in either direction) and then subtract this value from it you get 1536- a very reasonable rating value.
