For some reasons I could not buy 1st upgrade on my brand new account (2 games played). Every time I clicked on the button it took shards from me but didn't give me upgrade. I played a game to earn more shards and bought 2nd and 3rd without any problem. Sadly I could not test 1st as I was out of shards. After one more - longer game - I've tried to buy 1st upgrade and it worked just fine as well as 4th.

I've created new account yet again and now it worked perfectly to buy 1st upgrade. I've experienced some rare glitch or something? Lets hope it does not happen for casual players with normal prices.

BTW:
"+10% of map region count" could make it more clear. At first I thought It depends on region count owned by me - so if I have 40 regions I get +4 and if I manage to claim 60 regions it increased to +6, etc.
Also... Do 3rd and 4th upgrade "stack"? I mean... On map with 36 regions will I get +6 (2x10%) or + 7 (20%)?

After last player (guest) surrendered game was still "going" as if my opponents was still there but his turn did not end yet. Basically yellow player was still highlighted even after he left and hes timer was ticking. After if finished it just froze just like that. The only thing I could do was to surrender. After I did it generated "j_Tester18: surrendered" message. Is it client based, "assumed" message, or was it generated based on servers response?

Anyway, the Game Over screen informed me that I won anyway after surrendering so that's nothing critical.

It happens in every match when enemy surrenders. Game Over screen does not pop up automatically. Player action is needed to call it. If its players turn, then its easy - activating any region or pushing End Turn brings Game Over seen. If its not (enemy surrendered while taking his turn) you need to try to surrender. Pretty annoying.

Also, matches with guests are still a pain. 1v1 results: You finished 2nd, Ranking: 1500 - 38.
If you can loose ANY points to guest but CAN'T EARN them - that will only lead to discriminating guests. They will be kicked even more then they are now, as they will be "ranking leeches".

If anything - I would just consider guests as R:1500 (or a bit lower) so you could loose or gain R, OR put additional game setting: ranked game [Y/N] (with default: N) which would disallow guests to join ranked games. I like the first idea better as for creating new account does not take much longer than logging as a guest (you don't even need a real main for the gods sake! and even if you did, some portals offer many aliases for the same mailbox).

3rd and 4th upgrades do stack.

Guess are now counted as 1300, but I suppose you are right, I will set it to 1500. I will look into that game over screen. Thanks for all those reports, you are huge help

Also if you would like to share formulas currently used for rating (if they're not secret ofc) I could reactivate my website made for "Ranking System Proposal" back in December '11 so it would be easier to test extreme ranking cases. I could even simulate large groups of players (1000+) with external input (guests) each with preset "win chance (skills)" and "rating" playing thousands of random matches to see how it changes. (viewtopic.php?t=1489)

the only change is with guests as they dont have their own rating. When you win over guest, guest has rating of 0, if you lose, it has 1500

From what I understand 3rd and 4th upgrade increase your storage based on map size. You get +10% of total region count on the map you play. For example, maps made in free map editor can contain maximum of 40 regions - on biggest of those you get +4 storage (+8 with both upgrades). On map with 83 regions you would get +8/+16, etc. Yet, its limited to max of 10, so on maps bigger than 100 regions you get max of +10 from each upgrade. Hope it helps.
