The DNS server is hosted by your ISP unless you plugged in the IP address of another DNS server like Google's 8.8.8.8. Regardless of where the site is hosted, the job of the DNS server is to translate "vortexwars.com" into an IP address which enables the net to route your connection to that site. Since I received an error code from the site indicates that the DNS server did it's job.

I know. However, the multiplayer servers are not hosted on the same domain; thus, the error was in getting the information required for the multiplayer gameplay, and, as it did not come, the game gave an error message after not receiving it, if I am interpreting what techgump said correctly.

Exactly what Rat is saying... the game itself is actually being pulled form a game server that is not of vortex wars... and something tells me the lobby rooms are on even another server. If you decompile the source, you'll see references to at least two different servers not of VW.com. As I was saying in my situation, Google was not loading, a few other sites were not loading, but VW.com WAS loading (just getting the errors), as was several other sites I tried. Undoubtedly, a dns issue in my situation, as updating dns records solved it all instantly.
