have you changed something about your computer/internet connection? This error usually mean that there is problem with firewall or something like that

I ran into this a few days ago.
This is exactly what I got when I was severed with bad dns records. Perhaps you ran into the same, and hence why a bit of time resolved it (renewal of dns records)

Interesting...

How did you determine your error was due to bad DNS records?

Well, I was in the middle of a VW game and it "timed out". Went to load Google, and it failed to load. I refreshed VW, and got that error you got was well.
However, I could oddly load several other websites, so I figured either 1, a major routing hub had some issues, or 2, my dns tables were not correct.
I changed the DNS settings on my network card to point to another local ISP's DNS rather than my router which fetches it from my ISP, and everything started loading fine.

Essentially this means somehow I got served just SOME bad DNS records, or my PC did something odd to corrupt the current dns cache, and changing that setting forced a flush of it.

Just wondering because my error came directly from the VW game application which suggests that DNS was working properly. A DNS issue would likely result in the URL vortexwars.com not getting resolved and the connection would not reach the VW server. I was able to load all other sites during that time and suspect the VW authentication server or application is the culprit. I did not make any changes to my network or PC other than flushing the browser cache and that was no help.

Just my $0.02

I believe (correct me if I'm wrong), that the VW nultiplayer server is hosted at Player.IO, not at vortexwars.com, meaning that the DNS problems would be with where the server is hosted, not the website.

The DNS server is hosted by your ISP unless you plugged in the IP address of another DNS server like Google's 8.8.8.8. Regardless of where the site is hosted, the job of the DNS server is to translate "vortexwars.com" into an IP address which enables the net to route your connection to that site. Since I received an error code from the site indicates that the DNS server did it's job.
