Game Repair

Postby Zerieth » Wed Feb 15, 2012 6:32 am

It's struck me that no one has actually asked to remove a thing. I suppose I'll get to the point.

Lopdo I applaud all the wonderful race Idea's you are having. Some of the races are kind of broken though and you should at least consider a revision. Here is my definition of "Breaking" a game.

"Anything in a game that makes parts of the game/game tactics redundant/cheap, and can be used to violate the original intent of the game(Mechanics)." Things like a super death spell, or ability.

The races are getting kinda breaky, and I feel your toeing that line. The Natives that make the 1's to defending 2' absolutely destroy attrition games. The terminators also defeat the purpose of having a larger army to begin with. That makes it seem almost like a 6 or 5 could beat a 8 or 7. I feel the game is better of without these. In short the game is going to who is willing to pay out the most money. I also feel you won't take them out, and it's your game. I do feel i should put this up so everyone knows my opinion on this.

Money? The only race that requires money is Dragons, to which you did not even mention. More like:

In short the game is going to who is willing to PLAY THE MOST.

Which in turn, seems appropriate to me.

True enough, and you seem to forget the game is 90% probability, races have little effect in all honesty, I've got dragons and the amount of times I've been beaten by someone with a none bonus is race is unbelievable, mind you I'm ridiculously unlucky ;P
In game Moderator- So any questions about the game don't hesitate in asking :)

Just after a good laugh and a few good games, and one of very few players who actually don't quit xD

Taking on all challengers!

Personnally, from all the races I still only like the Archanids. Dragons is in my list to buy items.

Go Mods,
anyway, Lopdo has tried Really hard to make it possible for a man without money to win, & in my opinion he's succeeded.
Although seeing a dragon throws off my game, its mostly Sociological, I mean i died allot when i saw spiders,
but then i got used to them and started kicking there... :oops: well you know, my point is,
Don't let them throw off your game, It's all in your head.

I don't disagree with you, I just want to point out that he could've just left it possible from the get go.

Also, I am still mad about boosts. No matter how much you say "Look at it from the point of view of people with paid stuff...", it won't change. I have paid stuff. At the time that Lopdo took away upgrades disabled I had 300 boosts of each type, paid for, that I never intended to use. I also had paid for premium, both upgrades, and multiple bonus races, etc. Luckily for me, I still play upgrades disabled quite a bit, even if it is at a terrible cost.

With the natives race all rolls are treated as 2's. In the event of ties both sides are reduced to one but the defender still wins. 7's and 8's are usually guaranteed rolls because the number determines the number of d6 used. 1 = id6. A d6 can not possible beat seven or eight d6 die.

2v1 = 2v2
3v1 = 3v2
4v1 = 4v2
5v1 = 5v2
6v1 = 6v1
7v1 = 7v2
8v1 = 8v2

In all these situations the 2 stands a chance of winning so an 8 v 1 is no longer a guaranteed roll. That makes hardcore expansion more difficult though admittedly the outcomes are tipped towards the larger dice number still. Now in attrition dependant on the dice roll the attacker and defender will lose points.

so say a normal 5v1. If the 5 wins with say a 25 v 5 there will be a slight redunction in the end result. The lower the attackers number the less attacking units that survive. But now with the natives the roll is potentially 30 v 12. The maximum numbers on both sides, and the 12 will greatly reduce any of the 5's attacks. The 8 can achieve a maximum of 64. The 2 gets a 12 and the carried over is reduced, although not significantly. Then we have a 6 that can turn into a 4 or a 3 in a big hurry. Meanwhile the natives player doens't have to worry about this. He doesn't need to fight a 1 that still rolls two dice.

This breaks the game, although not by much I admit. I suppose if you want to play every day for the next week or so (every waking moment) without spending on boosts (and everyone else will be) you MIGHT get natives. Sad reality is no one can do that. I think I am a 13 at present. That means I have to level up at least 11 times to get that race. That's if I don't spend on boosts (which stop the risk aspect of the game in its tracks). Or I can shell out some money that I need for other things. I gaurantee most of the people are doing that and so it we lose victory to the smartest and get victory to the richest.

I understand that a match vs. the natives is not impossible. It is still possible to win through a great deal of luck. However I feel that lopdo is getting closer and closer to that inevitable unbeatable race that will have so much bonus it effectively shatters the game. I am using this as an opportunity to look at, from another point of view, were things are headed. If he continued to do the things that please the people who pay for the game (in large quantities, not the occasional ten) then we stand to see things get further broken down. Here are the two things I can see that will solve the issue at hand.

Either stop making races with cheap bonuses (Such as the 1 = 2 one) or create a game option that effectively disallows the special races. No wrapping it up saying "Oh the advantages only happen in this one situation." An advantage is a advantage, no matter how it's gift wrapped. I personally play a advantage race but it's the demons and they don't do much. I will happily give them up and play in a no advantage game mode forever if that's what it takes to see a return to the older days when the highest advantage was a +5% and the enemy more than likely played my opposite.

To all the inevitable people that oppose this idea please make sure you have red the bold carefully. If you say anything about how a race advantage is so little as to be insignifant I won't read it. I won't respond to it because I have already made my point on it and I hate to repeat myself. However small it is, an advantage is an advantage.

You people need to stop with these rediculously long post. Not only are they annoying but they are also considered spam in some cases.
As for what you are saying here I hate going against natives they are quite annoying at the start of games. :)
