I do wonder how this forum leans politically.
Here are my beliefs. I hope this will start a dignified and cordial discussion of politics.
As I have stated before, I will be voting for Bernie Sanders in the primaries. I wish he were harsher on guns, but that is really my only beef with him. Besides, this is America, with a Republican congress, it is impossible to think of touching gun control anyway. I would vote Jill Stein for president if the Greens ever had a chance. Hillary is just socially liberal. Her other policies are majorly conservative. Most Democrats don't even realize it. Voting Hillary is practically voting Jeb Bush, but with slightly better domestic policy and slightly worse foreign policy.
I think Sanders will be like FDR minus the Japanese internment camps. If Trump is elected, I think internment camps will see a return, and America will become far too unsafe for Muslims or most other groups that would be a minority here.
If you wanted a full outline of my political beliefs, here is a shortlist:
Drugs: Legalize marijuana. Decriminalize other drugs and start correction centres.
Guns: Long Term - Prohibition on guns. Short Term- Make it harder to get a gun and regulate them like cars.
LGBT+: Full rights as citizens of the US. Educate children in sex-ed about sexuality and gender change.
Black Lives: Yes, they matter, just like all life. Clamp down on police, force reports on each arrest and video if possible.
Environment: Global warming is real, and it is the biggest threat to our nation because it could mean the end of life on Earth as we know it. Reduce carbon emissions. Move towards alternate power sources. Create jobs.
Foreign Aid: Help the American people before others. How can we fight for the rights of others before we guarantee them to ourselves? (This is the only topic that I am pretty conservative on.)
Foreign Policy: Work in coalitions and with the UN. No unilateral military action unless directly attacked.
Military: Less spending. End useless programs. Keep supplying jobs. End draft unless president gets senate to approve one.
Tax: Tax the rich more. Tax the poor less.
Income: Raise minimum wage. Paid parental leave. Free healthcare. Tuition free college. Pay for in taxes.
I think this covers the majority of my beliefs. I would be interested to see others make a list. I know that some of my views are considered controversial, but since this is the Internet, keep arguments respectful and polite, and I will remain such with your policies. Thank you.
