Buff Dragons

Postby armorblase » Wed Feb 08, 2012 6:40 am

First off.... yes I DID support the game developers by buying the dragon race. I did think the amount the game developers were asking for the dragon race was a little steep. Most developers only ask for about $5 to unlock special content and races while this game asks for $40!

That being said let me explain what I get for $40 (I can almost go and buy a PS3 game for this price)

+5% on Attack rolls (Average rolls for attack 20-30) *So approximately +1 on any attack roll that is 20+
+5% on Defense rolls (Average rolls for defense 20-30) *So approximately +1 on any defense roll that is 20+
+10% on reinforcements (+1 for any 10 areas I own)

**Not positive if bonuses are rounded up or down. For instance 5% of a 30 roll would give me 1.5. Does this convert into a 1 or a 2? This is why my above statements are "approximate" amounts although I assume they round down.

The amount of times that I would win by 1 in a roll that is in the 20+ range would be <5% of my total rolls. Dragons are supposed to be the best race in the game? It's laughable. What it really boils down to is that the difference between ALL the races is trivial...yes even the all mighty dragon race that I own...

What I am requesting is not only a "Buff" to the dragon race ($40 and it's basically the same thing as any other race.... really devs?) but, more distinct differences to the others because as is the only functional difference between the races resides mostly in peoples heads.

Sincerely,

Im going to say this once. 20x5 == 100, ergo, 5% is 1 in 20.

From Storyteller....

Im going to say this once. 20x5 == 100, ergo, 5% is 1 in 20.

My reply....

The +5% is a +5% to any roll.... ergo, If I roll a 20 it turns into a 21.

This means I do not get any bonus to my rolls in the range 1-19 and only get +1 in the ranges 20-39 and so on and so forth.

Now there is only about 3%-5% when I am in a situation where the racial bonus is useful.

This +5% does not have anything to do with your equation Storyteller. I really don't have a clue to what you are trying to get across since you are using the +5% in a way it doesn't get used in the game.

More people should really be getting peeved about this. What I was hoping people would get from my above posts but, forgot to directly address is that all the races are essentially the same.

There should be a more comprehensive push for more distinct differences between the races. This is not a solo rant for dragons.

The point is to support the developer with the money, not to buy a super badass race. The Dragons are better than others, but not too much. We don't want to see the game dominated by a noob who buys a good race. Not to talk about an above average player with a superb race

BetaGen is right, I didn't want to make this game pay to win. Dragons are to show support, not to buy victory with. They were most powerful race when they came up, now I am not sure, maybe one of newer races is stronger (they are different so it is hard to say), too bad lot of players still thinks they are overpowered

They are the most powerful balanced race. The new one's really just prove their advantages in specific strategic situations. So to use them, you either have to create or join a specific map or strategically plan the situations. Thus, some of the players see them as overpowered if they get into those situations. With the Dragons it's just good overall in most maps/scenarios.

Note: The only race I'm worried about with overpowering are the undead. Still haven't seen anyone use them properly, but in the hands of Techgump who like me uses the boosts early in the game, this race could be devastating, especially in those "Full map" games

Dragons are just like a fusion of the reptiles and arachnids right? So when you play aggressive you buy arachnids and when you play defensive you buy reptiles. So when it is dragons versus arachnids the dragons have the advantage of having defense, which negates the attack bonus of the arachnids, but the arachnids don't have something to negate the attack bonus of dragons (which is why dragons are better, ofcourse ;) ). Same thing with dragons versus reptiles but in the opposite way...
If you look at the new races, like natives/ terminators / undead the dragons have the same (dis)advantage as other races do.
Natives: 1=2 when attacked, but that is their only advantage . when it comes to 8v8 every other race with an attack or defense bonus is "better" except for terminators which are better in 7v8 when attacking. So you could say dragons are twice as good as Natives if you speak about later in the game... :D
Terminators: 15% attack bonus when attacking with a smaller army. so versus dragons they only get the 10% (15-5), which is still useful but less than against arachnids or demons. also dragons got 5% attack so when attacking terminators it will be as if they were just any race without a defense bonus.
Undead: if attack boost is used and you win the first time then the attack boost is not consumed.well, dragons still got the advantage of defense and undead got no attack or defense bonuses except for the boosts.
There are vampires too, although I don't see them much. They get +5% attack; +5% defense and -10% spawn so dragons are obviously better. At least on maps that are not bigger than 100 regions because if vampires (with upgrades) have 40 regions they get only 36 troops each turn. Dragons get 40 troops for 37 regions.
I also saw pumpkins sometime. I was told they get -5& attack; -5% defense and +15% spawn. Dragons are obviously better: 10% attack and defense and pumpkins get only 5% more troops so where dragons get 40 troops for 37 regions they will get the same for 34 regions.
these points make clear (for me at least) that dragons are (one of) the best race in the game

@BetaGen..... Yes I know. I did buy the dragons to support the devs. I guess I was just a little disappointed with the amount asked for for what was given.

@Lopdp..... Even though dragons are only SLIGHTLY better than the other races I get kicked from ⅓ of the games I attempt to play and another ⅓ of the time I have huge alliances set up from the first turn to take me out. It’s extremely hard to fend off 3 or 4 players at once although I can do it at times but not often....

He raises a good point there, the amount of users that harass and insult people because they have Dragons, despite what you say when the truth is they don't make that much of a difference :P
Having Dragons seems to have stirred conflict within some players that see a dragon and head straight for it, no complaining here, I like the attention ;)
In game Moderator- So any questions about the game don't hesitate in asking :)

Just after a good laugh and a few good games, and one of very few players who actually don't quit xD

Taking on all challengers!
