Terminator Race - No Good!

Postby skua » Mon Jan 16, 2012 1:02 pm

Hi All, Just cashed in 3200 of my hard earned shards for the Terminator race. So far it is a huge disappointment. The 15% advantage when attacking with a smaller army has not won yet, just one army smaller too. This has been tested in both attrition and HC modes. I was going to get arachnids for 2800, but thought the more expensive race must be better.

Anyone else got an opinion on the Terminator Race. :?

Probably going back to trusted Angels before shelling out for Dragons. :D

Anyone able to explain the maths probability of the Terminator advantage/no advantage? :geek:

Thanks
skua

Just found BetaGens Post on probabilities - doh (http://vortexwars.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1389). Mathematically there is the advantage. My luck and experience says different.

Would like to hear from other Terminators on their experiences both good and bad. Relating to VW of course.

Thanks BetaGen for work on probability tables. :D

Rushed in to do the forwarding for the post, but seems you found it yourself ;)
I did the tables first, then played with the race for a while. The best scenario with is Hardcore with a lot of 8's. 8v8 is basically the same as 7v8 and also 6v8 has quite some chances (not to even talk about the combination with boosts) This helped me out quite a lot in desperate scenarios.

BetaGen,

Thanks for the reply. I will persevere for a while with the Terminator and see how it goes.

I think Terminators are ok. It's "hard" decicion wheter take terminators, reptiles or arachnids. If the map is big and mode is hc, terminators are good. I won 5 times 7v8 attack on a row once (it's possible without terminators too, but not that propable) with terminators and quite often attacks like 4v5, 2v3 etc. Don't know if terminators are worth the shards if you have to choose only one race, then i would consider taking arachnids or reptiles, because like i said, terminators are good in big maps when spawn bonus doesn't give that much benefit. But if someone has some spare shards and will to irritate opponent winning 7v8s often, terminators are good ;)
Well thats funny!

124kgf, Thanks for your reply, I had mild success earlier today, i.e. one 7v8 victory out of about six attempts. I am not that happy with the Terminator Race and if I could cash them in, I would. Maybe they just don't suit my style of play. But you live and learn.

Cheers

It seem to me that the Terminator power is the other attack bonus. But when I use attack boost with Terminator I see some success. So I try to use my attack boost when I have a smaller arm only.

A little grave-dig, but you are basically right about saving the boosts for smaller vs bigger.
