POLL: Old Threads keep coming back from the dead

Postby BeatlesFan » Tue Apr 23, 2013 2:50 am

The forum is currently "under attack" by a horde of old threads being revived. Current poll for your input:

Should old threads be locked/deleted?

This poll is set to close in 15 days

The original topic on this is shown here - but the poll on the thread is no longer functioning:

In Vortex Wars: 50% of the game is luck. 50% is skill. The other 50% is math.

I voted for "Do nothing", but I believe the ideal solution would be to allow posts, but warn users that they should only post if it is relevant and not clearly pointless. If a reply not fitting guidelines is posted on an old topic, the user should be warned/ possibly punished if the offense is continued or other offenses are present.

I say delete them after a year. Actually after 6mo. I have been a member on several other forums that have problems with to much content and they continuely have to purge there records every so often. I think this thread is doing a great job at bringing awareness to this issue I hope somthing is done to delete the content of threads that are no longer important and whoses issues have been settled.

I'm sure everyone else will disagree with me so I will be intrested to hear what they have to say on the matter.

I personally dislike archive forums because they are confusing.

What does archiving forums really mean? What is the difference between that and a regular forum?

I voted for #5 and #1, with #5 as my preference. Although along with locking them, people should be able to request one to be revived, stating a reason, which would then be reviewed and assessed by a moderator. With those that incessantly request topics are revived being warned and/or punished.

I also like Rat's version. Can't imagine where he'd've got it.
Xerxes:Let us reason. It would be a waste. It would be madness for you and your troops to perish because of a misunderstanding. There is much our cultures could share.
Leonidas:Haven't you noticed? We've been sharing our culture with you all morning.

we need to educate people who do it that they shouldn't... and make fun of them a bit in the process
