Big question is, what should happen with existing users. I will surely reset their xp and shards, but I don't know what to do about items. I don't feel comfortable taking away thing they bought with real money, but I am not sure I can distinguish between thing user paid for and things he got using shards. I will have to look into that

Maybe you can just get a final, amazing version of VW 1, and have them be separate. Then you wouldn't have to worry about it; you could make the paid stuff in VW 2.0 completely different!

I was thinking that if us old-timers got to link our old accounts to our new ones, allowing us to at least transfer lifetime premium and possibly a small portion of our earned coins/shards.

Just keep the 1st one up and nobody will care, Although if you make a 2nd game you would need more mods.
just sayin

I propose you make a new one without boosts Have consumable upgrades be something different, like maybe something that lets you place down an extra reinforcement or maybe place an extra unit during your turn before you attack. Something like that. Now I have to go watch Community.

oh wow, i leave yesterday thinking this was going to be a dead post, but anywho, *success it wasn't* :D
as for the completely different version, it sounds risky, but don't think i'm telling you what to do at all.
I say risky because if the game's really dying, making a completely different version where people are restarted might lose even more people, though it may bring more new ones which is much needed.
As for the update idea, even if it was just the easiest add in the world, the idea of a new upgrade might keep more people in, and as someone said above (forgot to quote), the integration of what people paid for would be another important factor. The clan wars integration is smart too, but i wouldn't want to see the classic "Risk" version of the game to dissipate, but once again, not my game.
And as for ace, i'm kinda staying away from the "clans" thing, but if everyone hops on the bandwagon at a later time then i might, i just didn't remember you asking.
P.s. Lopdo commented on my first post ;D *yet another success*
