When you create a game there should be an option to turn rating off. I think this is a good idea. Simply you will therefore also get an option on profile to show rating or not. Non-rated games. Try this and see if players does better cause I seen the blame of misbehavior and secret allying and other kinds cheating go to rating.

This gets suggested a lot. I'd honestly prefer ditching ratings altogether, but this is a start.

As funnyman said, it gives you goals. It just needs some regulations or options.

i love this idea. it took a lot of the fun out of it when the rating came out. i never do random placing or starting regions anymore b/c i don't trust it and i can not take a risk with my rating. however, i still like the ratings so i disagree with joshua on saying it should be ditched altogether

No one cared if anyone allied until rating came along - since then it's the most controversial thing in the game.

I got mad when people were secretly allied from the start, but as there was nothing to lose from being allied against naturally when I was in a winning position I knew that I had played well and that was all that mattered.
