SInce map reviewing is manual, you should give some (obviously trustworthy) players the ability to review maps so you can spend more time developing the game.

reviewing itself isn't main reason why it is manual. Problem is with map previews. I need to generate them and manualy upload to server, when I am able to automatize this, I will make submisions automatic

Hi Lopdo,

I like the editor, it's really simple to use and works well and it's easy enough to create detailed and complex maps. I like the little warning notes that pop up in the map error box telling you what's wrong with the map, it's a good idea. However it said I had unused ground everytime I saved a new region which got a bit annoying and I think that bit isnt needed.

It would be nice to be able to hold down shift and run the mouse along to draw a line without having to click each individual tile.

I saw a few spelling mistakes and the grammar was ok but not perfect, there were lots of little words missing like 'the'. I was going to edit it but it seemed easier to re-write the whole thing. I think my version flows more and is a bit easier to understand.. but it's up to you what you think.

____

Free Editor

The Free Editor allows you to make 3 different maps each with a limit of 40 regions. If you wish to make more or larger maps you will need to purchase the Deluxe Editor which allows you to create maps with up to 250 regions. The purchase also gives you 2 additional map slots and the option of unlocking more slots if you need them.

Map Editing

To begin creating your map, click the CREATE NEW button on one of the available slots and enter a map name or click the EDIT button to resume work on an existing map you have previously saved. This will take you to the editing screen.

The creation of a map consists of two steps: firstly you create the map terrain that will outline the shape of the map. Secondly you draw regions on top of the map terrain. You can switch between each of the Draw Mode's by clicking on the MAP or REGIONS buttons in the top right corner of the screen.

Drawing is very simple. You hold down the SHIFT button and click the left mouse button on the tiles you want to draw on. To erase a tile hold down the CTRL button and click on the tile you want to delete.

Map Rules

There are a few basic rules that maps need to follow:

1. All map tiles need to be covered by regions.
2. Each map has to contain at least 8 regions. However 12 -16 regions are optimal for smaller maps so each player has the chance to expand.
3. Regions cannot be too small. The minimum size for a region is 5 tiles grouped together. Also do not make the regions too big as the maps will get too big and the regions will become less visible.
4. All regions must be connected, you cannot make separate islands.

Map Submission

Each map needs to be submitted for approval before it is made visible to the public. In order to do this press the SUBMIT button underneath the map name. Your map cannot be edited or deleted by you after it has been submitted so before you submit your map ensure it does not contain any errors and it is exactly how you want it to be.

The submission process is currently manual so it might take some time for your map to appear in the game. We are working on making this process automatic. Your map will be denied if it contains inappropriate imagery or an unsuitable map name. Maps that are too similar to ones that already exist in the map packs will be rejected also. However you may make smaller or larger versions of the world map or of the continents and country maps that already exist. You may also make maps based on the races currently without one.
