Force Draw

Request:
Force draw after 30 minutes of initial request.

Reason:
I am new to the game, but both tonight and last night I spent 2 - 3 hours in single games because an opposing player refused to draw once the game became a stalemate, and I eventually ended up surrendering because of real life obligations. (after hours in a single Vortex War)

Consequence of this issue:
Although I enjoy the game, I really can't justify playing something that can result in me spending hours in a contest of "will", (Who will surrender first) and I am certain that I am not alone. This single flaw potentially drives away many players who would otherwise become a part of the community.

Conclusion:
The internet is overloaded with people who will sacrifice their own time to waste someone else's. With the current system, this game is a venue for "griefers" to practice their trade. The game should be won based upon skill of the player and luck of the battles. Once the game degrades to a stalemate, there should be an alternative to the "who has more time" contest.

So after half an hour of it being 1v1 you want it to automaticly draw?
Sounds good it should only last about 25 minutes max at that point anyway.

I agree. This would make the game more fair. Though I like to play to the end most of the time, sometimes this "strength of will" game is unfair because especially when you play a one on one game, sometimes choke points are impossible to get through especially when they opponent has enough troops to reenforce and take back a choke after each attack or turn.

I'd rather fix the source of the problem; just tweak the map generator it doesn't make maps with a single choke connecting more than 5 territories.

I would be really pissed if I broke some fool's choke point at 28 minutes, and just as I start sweeping his arse off the board, I get auto drawed.

I have played people who offer draw as soon as player3 is gone, regardless of how even the game is.

Not exactly. I suggested that after a draw is requested, then a timer start that will force the draw after a predetermined time. 30 minutes was just an example and it could be shorter or longer, or even much longer.

It really does not even matter what the time limit is, just as long as it is there. If a griefer knows that he cannot drag on a game for hours to "force" the other person to surrender, then he probably will not do it. The time limit would allow the player offering the draw to have a realistic idea of how much longer a game will last when decided whether or not to surrender (in the event that the opposing player will not accept a draw).

Agree with some type of system. Would even take it a step further and if a draw is requested in a 1v1 scenario, after say the proposed 30 minutes (I'd say like 15 minutes personally as I usually don't offer draws until a stalemate is realized) the person with the most territories gets a full-on 1st place giving the other player second. Just got out of a game with 35 spots against a 20 spot but an annoying choke point... finally resigning after an hour.

If it's a true draw, that's cool, if it's a slow kill, then we're depriving the winner of his shards and XP because the loser doesn't want a quit on his record.
