Good idea Bro....but i would prefer
something like.....
Add 5% chance to re-attack if first rolls fail...with a NORMAL atk (not using atk boost)
Add 25% chance IN HARDCORE mode when you do Egual Rolls...both Lands drop to 1
Borders ---> Units placement focus on Sheilded lands first

I think there should be artefacts that increase a races abilities, and artefacts that weaken certain races for example the 'royal blood' artefact could increase the vampire race abilities, but the 'holy water' artefact could weaken the vampire race.

Yea... but the idea of losing it ain't my cup of tea... I never win and always lose these days, I wouldn't bother spending my cash on something like that or shards.

but if it stays I would do it.

I'm going to say I like the idea, but kinda disagree with the numbers and problems it might cause (8 players with red orb :? )

To make playing for relics competitive I would count it as a boost so that it is optional to use, they are much weaker and in the shop there's the item:

RELIC SLOT XXXX Shards

Unlock one Relic slot and receive one random relic

This would create a variety in the different types of relics of exactly equal quantity rather than everyone saving up for red and experience and the games not changing very much. I think the game would also run a lot smoother with just one relic slot each to not over-complicate the interface.

Also to add to your list of extremely over powered relics (everything overpowered = everything balanced :)):

Shard of Softening: Players that beat your dice roll when attacking you in HC mode will be treated as if they have won in ATT mode

Shard of Dexterity: Gain +1 troops

Shard of Knowledge: Win after 5 turns of consecutively owning the same number of territories at the end of each turn

Shard of Mutation: At the end of your turn your race mutates to a random other race (including all races except watchmen)
