oh, suppose so
Xerxes:Let us reason. It would be a waste. It would be madness for you and your troops to perish because of a misunderstanding. There is much our cultures could share.
Leonidas:Haven't you noticed? We've been sharing our culture with you all morning.

Yes. Their are cases where people might not figure it out, but most cases wouldn't be like this.

Or they could not let you see which color matched what name in this mode. This way you wouldn't know who your ally was.

Would that prevent people from telling eachother off-game "I'm yellow" "k, I'm blue", or "I spawned on the top left" "k, I spawned around the middle"?

Don't think there's a real way to prevent off-game alliances. That's the risk. But it's worth it for all the good alliance-less games it can produce IMO.

you never know what color your going to be or where your going to start, it's up to the game to decide, and it would be no chat anyway, so you wouldn't be able to say that

He was talking about in out of game chats. Maybe your computer could randomly assign colors so that you can't tell by that.

But you still know where on the map your units are located. No way to prevent offgame cheating.

What if the map is rotated differently for everyone so that the top for one person is the bottom for another? You could even make it wider or taller as well to stretch it out or compress it. It would look like a different map to every person with different players, but it would really be the same.

That sounds like it could be difficult. But, I am sure Lopdo could pull it off. :D
