Start Type - More Options

Postby Endon » Tue Oct 11, 2011 5:05 pm

I was thinking, when I was playing a game, if only I could place one more territory at start

What about options where every player gets to choose two territories to begin with, or more ETC.

And also one where everyone keeps choosing till map is full

I think these game modes would be plenty of fun to do ^_^

Placing two starting territories would add a lot of fun in two person matches; but I think it would be an unfair advantage for early players in larger matches if you got to place them both on your first turn.
Maybe you could reverse the turn order when placing the second starting territory (P1 places one territory; then P2,3,4,5,6,7, P8 places both of theirs,P7 places their other territory, then P6,5,4,3,2,1)?

Perhaps the best way to balance it would be to have an in-game option to place a second territory on your second turn instead of expanding your first territory. That way, if space is limited you aren't forced to spread yourself out, and you may also be able to gain a strategic advantage by NOT placing a second starting territory and instead expanding your existing territory right away.

But you get units for the longest CONNECTED landmass.

How about another start type that might remove a lot of FTA, It's like conquer except you have a randomly selected start space anywhere on the map. Just throwin it out there.
