they are kinda merged in a sense, when you type something in game lobby then game starts you can still press entre and what you typed there entires in game (same way how people already say "Good Luck everyone" in less then a second of game)
The reason it's cut is the same reason why it's cut when you spectate someone's game or enter a lobby,

Anyway I like the idea of having before typed stuff in game chat as well, it will drop the confusion some people have.

I know, usually when the game starts I forget who I was even talking to, this is why I don't do pre-game start alliances, I forget who I am with and end up attacking them
usually attack them first, well anyway yea...

Not what the person written 0.5 sec before the game start and u didnt even get enough time to read the name of the perosn who talked !
