Vortex Wars

This forum game is called "Cliffhanger".

Here are the rules:

1). We are writing a suspense novel called "Cliffhanger".

2). Each person writes the next paragraph picking up exactly where the last person left off.

3). You cannot post twice in a row - if you post another player/person must post before you can post again.

4). You may only introduce a maximum of one new character per post - you do not have to add any new characters though - just a max of 1 new per post if you do.

5). Rules on killing off a character:
- you can only kill off a character if they were introduced at least 5 posts ago.
- YOU can only kill off one character maximum - if YOU kill off a character - you are done killing off characters.
- The main character "Cliff Hanger" cannot be killed off (although anything short of death can/will happen to him)

6). Every new post must end with a cliffhanger - something dramatic/challenging/threatening etc. that is left hanging or undone for the next player to pick up from.

Let's get started:

Cliff Hanger looked around, half laughing as to how he got himself into this mess. He certainly had survived worse situations, given his line of work. But at the moment, he had yet to figure out how he would get out of this alive. He hesitated and looked up, and then he knew what he had to do within the next ten seconds.

It snarled at him. He ducked to avoid it's swing and looked around for some kind of weapon. All he saw was a wall of rocks. In some places there were gaps. Gaps with glowing red dots in. They seemed to be moving. Pairs of them. He realised that the creature was not alone. *THWACK*. Cliff Hanger fell to the ground, holding his head. When he pulled his hand away it was covered in blood. As he slowly fell unconscious, he saw the rest of the creatures coming closer..

EFFACÉ

Cliffhanger falls to the ground. Cliffhooker jumps down next to him and pulls out a two blades. Handing one to Cliffhanger, They ready themselves for the battle. Muraciously, the both survive the seemingly countless number of strange creatures. They lay down to rest. And then all of a sudden an earspliting ROAR echos through the large cavern, and out comes a.....

Lion. "How did a Lion get here?", Cliff Hanger shouted. "Not to worry" Cliff Hooker said, "He's with us actually. Long story, we'll get to that later. Right now we need to be more concerned about the..."

giant monstrosity making its way over here!" Suddenly the Earth starts shaking and the ground splits open. Cliffhanger and Cliffhooker fall down... and are inveloped in darkness.....

Something hits them, and the light above begins to glow brighter. Suddenly, they shoot past the creatures and up into the atmosphere. They look below to see what happened. "It's a bird!" said the Lion. "It's a plane!" said Cliffhooker. "It's AFROMAN!!" (New character!) said Cliffhanger. As they climbed higher, the air started to grow thin..
