Americans are the largest group on the forums, so I speak to be understood. Besides, you can blame the English for "soccer" anyway. It isn't really our fault.
The United States and Japan, both the Women's cups finalists, say soccer. As do the people of Canada, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and much of Ireland. So, in fact, most English speakers outside of the UK would say soccer.
