I am leaving Vortex Wars:

I am starting a new thread to announce that I am leaving Vortex Wars - Both the game and forum and for good.

Most of you won't care, but for others I do owe an explanation.

I am "retiring" from Vortex Wars - both the forum and the game - October 13, 2013 will be my last game and forum post.

This has been some time in coming and I will explain myself to a few that do deserve an explanation.

I purposely chose October 13, 2013 because I feel that I have made a commitment to certain players (Clan, Musical Chairs game, Vortex Wars Council, a few wars and matches that have been promised that are not yet completed, etc.). Pushing this out for a few months gives me time to have a "smooth transition" for what I have started here. After I am gone - the rest of you can decide if you want to continue them or not and that is purely your choice.

I also chose this "future date" because I took the departures of Techgump and Ozserf fairly hard. Techgump did not even say goodbye - and Ozserf left right after his post. I do not want to go out like that.

Now for the reason I am leaving: I do not want to be around for where I see this game headed. I have been here since before 1.0 came out and I never anticipated the day when the game would end. Others have written about this, in particular Vortex_Master, but I see the end coming and don't want to be around when it arrives.

I also have a few secrets to reveal to a few players - and I owe them that. I will do so over the remaining time that I am with you.

Well... Secrets are what us Leaders try our best to keep. But when they get loose, it can ruin us. Now... I will miss you when you are gone, but this is not the end of the game. The clans may be going through a bit of chaos, but the game is still alive.

I think these secrets have been going on long enough. Secrets have caused far too much trouble...

Karen has the Knights.

Chess will take the Vortex Wars Council.

I will stick around long enough to finish off Musical Chairs - and I do want to do that.

I am working on the Active Clans listing - I am hopeful that Chess will also take that - but have not reached out yet.

As for the rest - I am doubtful that anyone will take them, and maybe for the best. The one that I would like to have survive is Vortex Wars Hall of Fame (Achievements) - but no one else seems to care about it now, other than me, so it will likely die.

And another one down and another one down, another one bites the dust.

I agree - and I am not so vain as to suggest that the departures of Techgump, Ozserf, and now me spell the end of the game. It is far from that. I just see that in a year or so - it is most likely that I will not be able to recognize it by then and it is my opinion that in a year the game is in such a decline that only a handful of diehards will be keeping the forum alive. I do not want to be around for just 5 of us hoping for a revival that never comes - that is my opinion of where things will be in a year. I hope that I am wrong, but I will not be here to know.

I want to see it to the end, mainly so I can have the pride of saying that I was here beginning to end.

Based on a PM that I received - I will reveal one secret here publicly.

I am not in OOS and never have been. Some have assumed that I am in OOS and I was okay with that. In fact, I think it helped them to add to their mystery status as it kept others guessing as to who is or is not in OOS.

At any rate - I have no OOS secrets to share - I was never in any way associated with them, other than reading their posts and following with interest.

I will not even post anything to speculate about what goes on inside of OOS - because I don't know.
