WELCOME! You are reading a soon to be best seller in the VW community. Everyone on the forum gets a free copy.

Before going on about how no one wants to hear my story, remember that I have been around a long time, and some people may find value in remembering the good old times along with me. If you have any suggestions, go ahead and feel free to suggest away.

Prologue: I am Vortex_Master
Hi. My name is Joseph. I go by Joe. This is the story of how I came to be in the VW community. It all started one hot July. I was bored, and I needed a game to keep my attention. I was pretty good at the board game Risk! so I thought I'd look for an online version. I found a game called Vortex Wars on Google. I played as a guest every now and then. VW was still young, and it was not even on Kongregate yet. I didn't play very often, at first. About a week and a half later, I found the game on my preferred site: Kong. I immediately started playing off of there. Guests were not hated on as much back then, and I didn't mind not having many goodies. I kept playing as a guest up until Version 1.5. I finally got a Kongregate account because Boosts were disabled for guests, and I was starting to make friends. I was a cocky person back in October, so I thought I was a master. It gave me the brilliant idea of naming myself Vortex_Master.

Chapter 1: Friends Are Made
After I created my account on Kongregate (which I will refer to simply as "Kong" from now on) I started getting to know people better, and this time, they could actually remember me. I met a variety of people from Mipster (a mod) to aboad (who could never spell correctly), from Karen and Habit (more mods) to L0llero (a grumpy old chap), from techgump (the highest level at the time, and a mod) to highlander (a great player, and second highest level). Among all these people that I got to know, one by the name of Kalendan1 got my attention. We quickly became close friends, and he promptly showed me to his friend ace199212. Ace was a nice guy, and very charismatic, so when Kalendan told me he had a clan, I was immediately interested.

Chapter 2: The Forum
Kalendan told me to check out a place called "The Forum." I decided to take a look. It was a vast, majestic place. Kalendan directed me to a part of the forum for Clans, in which I joined the Brotherhood of Honor, by ace. I quickly made my way up the ranks, and got to know more people. I became friends with susanasaade (ace's #2) and JeremytheEmporer, a player who was quickly making his way up the leaderboards. I played with these people very often, and I became increasingly obsessed with Vortex Wars. Ace kept changing the name of the clan, and there was one point where the clan disbanded for a while, before long ace decided to revive it with a new name. However, I had other plans than to rejoin ace, though he remained a good friend.

Chapter 3: Going On My Own
After the Guild of Samurais (as ace's clan had come to be known) had disbanded, I went on my own and created a clan named Guild of Guardians. It was very much inspired by ace's name and layout, though it also seemed to somewhat resemble the setup of a clan named Warriors Creed. Speaking of WC, I had gotten to become good friends with several of it's members including Buttermilk123, Drone6o3, and Drone333. Buttermilk convinced me he was a female, and always flirted with me when he had the chance. I never really minded it, though it was very awkward finding out he was male. Drone6o3 (leader of WC) and Drone333 were brother and sister. They both played on Kong and I chatted with them along with aboad, L0llero, Habit, GamerzX, and Karen whenever they were on. Drone6o3 and I became very close friends, and after I had made my new clan, he offered an alliance with the Creed, which I gratefully accepted. I also became friends with a fellow by the name of Martini77, known as leviathan on the forums. He was leader of a clan that he kept changing the name of, until it became Heaven and Hell, and by then he had given up on his clan. He had all of his members join me and my clan, GoG. Unfortunately, my clan never made it very far, just like leviathan's. I gave up and decided to do what leviathan did, and move everyone over to a better clan. That clan was Warriors Creed.

Chapter 4: Warriors Creed
Leviathan, Sub-Zero, and myself joined WC together, after I quit on GoG. When I joined WC, I started as an Elite member, but within 2 days I became a High Creed. Not 2 weeks after joining, I asked if I could lead an offensive team of leviathan, KingHammer35, and myself. Drone quickly agreed, and allowed me to be a general as I was one of the best back then, believe it or not. I played for hours every day. We never had any real wars under Drone's command after I joined, but we had plenty of players, and a well organized army. I got to know Jbleed and Ratburntro44 (fellow council leaders) very well. I was also good friends with crittergeek, Jtr56, devito567, and Ichx3. In the late summer, however, we had some arguments about leadership. Jbleed felt that Drone was lacking in his leadership ability, and lack of activity. I took Jbleed's side, and agreed that Drone was not active enough, therefore not fit to lead. Ratburntro44 took the side of Drone saying that he was still active enough on the forum. Drone's activity picked back up, and Jbleed's forum activity plummeted. Unfortunately, Jbleed would remain relatively inactive on the forum from that point on, and Drone became inactive both in-game and on the forum. Forced with no other choice, the clan's co-leader, Ratburntro44, stepped up to the plate.

It was also during this time that I took on the task of making a Forum RPG and taking over the Random Death Match League from Ozserf. Both eventually died, as they went down in popularity, though the RPG has had 2 revivals since then, and Leagues are becoming popular again.

Chapter 5: A New Age
In mid-October, Ratburntro44 took over WC with me as co-leader. I was quite active in the beginning, participating in helping Rat determine who was active, and who was not, using VW 2's user search to aid us. Unfourtunately, I became inactive just before our war with WP and for the middle part of Rat's rule, so I missed a bit of action. Later, in December, I became active again, and came up with the brilliant idea to make a colony clan, which I would lead. The idea is that we would attract more players, and eventually rejoin the Creed if needed. Jbleed became active for a short time during this and hated the idea. I have to admit, it wasn't a great idea, but I was missing the layout of GoG. Not long after Jbleed went inactive again, Rat decided he wanted to step down, as he did not want to be leader in the first place. WC was still very inactive at that time, and I, much like Rat, did not want to be leader. The only members active enough to take over were Rat, shocker14, Joshua, and myself, as Jbleed, Furqi, and many others had become inactive. I set up a vote, forcing Rat to be on the ballot, as I did not want to be on it either. Other options on the ballot were Drone6o3 and Other. Drone was inactive, and only got 1 vote anyway. I never voted, and if I had, it probably would have tied the vote. The vote was conclusive with 1 vote Drone, 7 votes Other, 7 votes Ratburntro, and a miraculous 8 votes for myself. Apparently the winning factor for me was that our founder, Drone6o3, had come back for a short time, and voted for me. I realized somewhere along the way during the vote, with the help of Joshua, Rat, and Autumnwolf17, that I was really the only possible choice. I reluctantly stepped up to the plate, fulfilling my duty, for I would not let down my clan.

Chapter 6: My Rise To Power
So, I had been voted to power, with a 1 vote lead against Rat and Other. I was willing only because I had to do what was best for my clan. I was still mainly unknown to most, as the Forum Tournament of that time proved. (Which Rat won.) Most of the people I knew were inactive, or had left VW without a word. I reimplemented Rat's idea of finding out who was inactive vs active, as well as holding a recruiting competition. Soon after the leader of a clan called Army of Angels by the name of >(FM)< came to me, asking to be allies. As both of our clans were allies to highlander's Renegades, I felt it smart to form a triple alliance, and accepted. At the time, I had no clue as to who this person was and I considered him a noob, though his clan did look somewhat formidable. I haven't much grounds to speak as WC consisted of no more than 4 active members at the time. Another reason I felt it wise to accept. After the recruitment, we had gone up quite a bit in numbers. WC was back on the map. Also around this time, Autumnwolf17, leader of the Wolfpack asked if we still did not recognize them as a clan. I actually had no idea what had happened between him, Rat, and highlander, and naturally fell back to let the clan decide. We all agreed, and that started a friendship between Autumn and I. I would eventually get to know many of the Wolves very well. I soon after disappeared for 20 days with no word, slightly worrying some. I came back and went right back into action, and with WC back to stable ground after a few months, we were ready for some fighting. Luckily a player by the name of Chris1726354 made a system of clan wars that involved points, so nobody would lose rights to rule their own clan.

Chapter 7: Defeat And Recovery
The leader of the Military Soldiers, a player named Ryankill, contacted me through PM about wanting to take on WC in a war. I gratefully accepted and we proceeded to fight. Not 3 weeks later WC was crushed, 10-0 against MS. I was devistated and had to defend myself because I foolishly made a comment early on that I would step down if we lost every battle. After getting everything fixed, I decided that WC needed more training, and possibly some newer, stronger members. Jonsteederi and JeremiahPedoBear (JeremiahWeed123) joined the Creed (a while apart), and not soon after >(FM)< (_funnyman_) disbanded the Army of Angels, and went on to join us as well. tKick, of the Angels, soon followed. I then held another recruiting competition, though this one was much more successful. Guest77, 4444, crazyninja212, JamesHN, manny158, HolyAssassin, dieguitooo, cats1, and many other members, some of which are would remain very active. FM, Jeremy, and jwl recruited over 20 people between themselves. Jwl was offered a promotion to Council Member multiple times, and did not accept until Rat said we needed one. (Which we kind of did.) WC was back in action, and stronger than it had been in many months.

The Order of Secrets soon after all of this started showing life again, and recruited me as a "spy." I was to gain intel on Vortex Guardians and its members for a few weeks before declaring war against them. There wasn't much point in my opinion, but I did it for a while anyway. The main reason I had joined this Order was to figure out who was in it, and if possible, who was who. Through various means, I was able to find out who 5 of its members were, and their codenames. I could not, however find out who unknown was. (Later discovered to be the second unknown.)

Not long after this, I joined a new clan named Knights of the Roundtable, led by BeatlesFan. This clan was made of the elite of VW. (Mainly Forum-Active members.) This clan scheduled fights with all of the clans. And who would've known, I was to lead the battles against none other than VG.

Chapter 8: A Golden Age
Not soon after, Ratburntro44 also joined the Knights, and not a week later the Knights decided to make all of its members choose to be either only in KOTRT or not in at all. I left, of course, since I was more loyal to WC. All was quite for a while, with nothing but peace to go around. WC and WP were getting along very well, and everyone seemed to be prospering. I didn't do much other than talk the days away, and play the occasional game of VW... This was probably the most boring, yet happy time of my VW life.

Chapter 9 Dances With Wolves
As I said in the last chapter, WC and WP were getting along quite nicely. And I seemed to fancy talking and playing with them as much, if not more, than with some of WC. I started going to the Vortex Chat Room, which was set up and ran by necrocat219, and modded mainly by wolves, such as Guinezilla. Many of these people became very close friends to me, including Chris1726354, Autumnwolf17, and necro. Calleharmemark and I have a slightly different relationship. I liked these people so much, that I thought about the possibility of someday joining, but soon threw that thought away, for I was too loyal to my clan.

Chapter 10: Disaster Strikes
After a long, prosperous golden age of fun and peace, Drone6o3 returns, and Autumnwolf17 asked if he'd be taking back over. Drone quickly put suspicions down by saying he was only taking over his role as a Council Leader, and nothing more. Guest77 decided he wanted to leave so if he became inactive due to work, it would go unnoticed. Soon after shocker14 arrived back, and it seemed that everything would go fine for the Creed, and for myself. However, I was incorrect... Ratburntro44 says he wants a change in leadership, becauseI had been leader for too long, and WC needed change. Jwl1000 is quick to take his side, and I decide to have a vote to see if everyone else wanted a new leader. The results showed that I was not wanted to step down by the majority. Rat soon left the Creed, and jwl followed. I eventually complied to their wishes, and had a vote to see who was to take over. All votes showed Chess435 and myself nearly tying, with me always in the lead by a small fraction. We decided to become co-leaders; equals. However, this did not please Rat and jwl enough for them to come back. The next few weeks were spent with me arguing with them about it, and eventually Drone started getting in on wanting me to step down as well. Drone6o3 took over complete control for a few days, and then handed it back over because nobody liked it. Guest77 came back and left once again during all this commotion, and JeremiahPedoBear left the Creed as well, finding the drama unfavourable.

Chapter 11: A Whole New... Triumvirate?
To wrap up what happened afterwards, Rat took over yet again, with me at his side, yet again. We started a war with MS and WP that are still not finished. Once the new year came around, I was elected leader yet again. I wanted us to recruit members yet again, and it turned out almost as poorly as the first time. After I had refused him entry during my previous leadership, Rat finally got me to let "aboad2" join. (I still believe that he is not the original.) Later, we did eventually pick up some good members in Ballsack and British Bulldog. After Drone became active yet again, I came up with the idea for WC to be ruled by the big three. Drone, Rat, and myself. We would form the Creed's first Triumvirate on a shared account. I believe that it is a great idea, although it would work much better with a larger, more active clan. In the long-run, this is WAAAAY more boring than our Golden Age, and infinitely less fun. Hopefully, we will have a late spring. Most of my VW life has been WC, and that seems like it will be the case for some time to come.

Chapter 12: The End is Nigh
While WC was declining, I joined VWC as a multi-clan member. However, with WC's eminent demise due to inactivity, WC decided to merge forces with the VWC in an effort to continue the Warrior legacy. BeatlesFan has remained in power throughout this time due to lack of opposition, and we have since ridden out the fall of VW together, standing as one of the last clans, despite waning activity. Lopdo announced the shut down of VW servers and possibly the forum, leading to a flood of remorse and confessions. Is this truly the end, though? I am not sure.

Epilogue: Farewell
It's been good. This is my first time back on here in about a year. That's how I know I am done with VW. You can still find me on the Discord, though. This community has truly affected my life in a meaningful way, and I know I will never forget you all. I once ran to my computer just to log onto here as soon as I got home from school. Now, as I sit here in Morocco, I could barely bring myself to come back to the forum for fear of seeing a graveyard. This is the only online forum to which I really dedicated myself, and I wouldn't have it any other way. I wish you all the best in life.

Secret Chapter: Secrets Revealed
A chapter full of secrets. Others know most, no one knows all. I know many secrets. Don't we all? Some information I know is sought by many, and known by few. Other information I know is that which no one knew. Some is just a little about me that nobody knows. This chapter will not be completed until VW dies.

OOS Related:
Creation of OOS: The full reason is only known to its creator, but I know the partial truth. Long ago, WC was making a spy council, with Ratburntro44 as the spy leader. He decided to make a topic on the VW forums about it and "recruit" members for the spy council. They all used codenames to conceal their identities, and posed as a new, secretive clan. Ratburntro posted on the topic making it seem as though nothing suspicious was up. The OOS had "arguments" with WC and became under WC control. But, what wasn't known was that it already had been under WC control. Eventually it became disused, but the idea seemed so freaking cool that Rat passed down leadership, and the OOS lived on.
unknown #1: Ratburntro44
Ricochet: Joshua
Nocturn: ClanGhostBear
Walrus: Vortex_Master
Sledgehammer: JerimiahPedoBear
Mango: Necrocat219
(Along with 2 others who names are known, but codenames are not.)
