The End

Welcome to my chat room. The darkest one, where we will be discussing the end of Vortex Wars. The name of this thread may change if VW makes a comeback. I am not really one to start chats, but I feel that this one is needed.

We have all played VW for a long time now. We all started not really expecting much, but somewhere along the line we made good friends, and we joined the forums, and we got sucked in. We watched a few people leave, and it was expected. The forums kept getting more popular over time, but the game keeps seemingly getting smaller.

With Lopdo's comment about VW someday ending, I reassured myself that I would be here until the end. There are others who still think that way. But then Ozserf left unexpectedly, telling us of how he has lost interest, not having fun anymore. This devastated most of us. Everyone is a little on edge it seems. Chris and I discussed the end just yesterday, and unknown still has the "never leaving" mind-set. I for one, am here for the people, as the game does not interest me nearly as much anymore. I will never pass up a game if I am on, but it is more of a courteous gesture so that I can chat with pals. I for one, have many memories related to VW, and I am sure you do as well.

I have a question to ask you all. Why are you still here?

(I am not trying to make anyone leave, and if you do, I would love to have your e-mail so that we may keep in touch.)

EDIT: I will be out of town for the next two days, I am not leaving. Do not worry.

To be fair this is the first online game where i'm not the "L-word" of the game xD
Mostly i would say i'm the "ratsmasher" of other games not .... the other one.
Well i'm still basicly playing VW because it's the highest I have been respected in any other game i have played before.

I am never leaving. Lopdo will have to shut down the game and forum to stop me.

Search Lopdo's posts, he's always saying the game is coming to an end. And while I realize that Ozserf left, I don't see what we're all freaking out about here. The game isn't just going to black out, it will end when you have it end. You aren't being forced out, calm down. :)

I've never been one to spend a huge amount of my day on VW, I suppose that also means that I'm not exactly prone to bore of it.

A timely topic.

I think the game has somewhere between six months to a year left. It will still "exist" after that, but not as we know it today.

This is just my opinion.

It was not long ago that I thought this game would never end and that different waves of new players would join, the game would get a few updates here and there, maybe a major update with VW 3.0 after Lopdo finds time. Then as you point out - Lopdo says that is not to be - he sees stopping work on it and it must end as all online games do. I too have been hit by the loss of Ozserf and for the last two days have been thinking about "The End" as an all-too real event.

As I write this now though, I realize that the game itself is not that old - I have been here since the beginning (although it took me a long time to join the forum) - I joined the game somewhere before version 0.14.

I also realize that the game is still here and whether the end comes in 6 month or a year - that is a long time compared to the short time it has existed at all.

I then come to the conclusion that Lopdo is most likely to release his next "Big Thing" sometime while most of us are still here. And if I am right about that I look forward to the following:

> A few updates to the main game
> New players to the game and forum
> Buzz when Lopdo announces the beta version of his next "Big Thing"
> Many of us getting hooked on the next game and then
> Many of us - as a community - continuing on to the next Lopdo creation
>>>We will want to continue as our current usernames - and we will lock them in right away
>>>We will recognize many of our friends that we have now
>>>We will become the founding members of what will now be the latest thing that will catch fire and attract a major number of new players in a game that will last for years as this one has.

So - I am placing my hope against your original post on one thing: Lopdo - your next "Big Thing" better be great - I want to be a part of it if you can deliver! :D

Do you think we should keep clan grouping when we move over?
