Can I assume you're talking about the Baltimore 'protests'?
It's relatively isolated; at least smaller than it probably looks. That said, it's also a major problem. The looters, though certainly not the only group in this 'movement', can be fairly considered nothing more than shameful opportunists. The good news is we have the national guard, police, and even some wonderful civilian peacekeepers around to return some control. For all that some may criticize the initial reaction by the local government, I believe we, as a country, are moving in the right direction to bring all of this back under control. The reports we're hearing deal primarily with the worst of what's going on, as they should, but I hope we are able to keep a reasonable and open exchange of opinions about the relationship between the police and the people. In my humble opinion, I've tended to side with the police in many of these cases, at least in response to more extreme accusations against them. That's just me though, I know many across the country are waiting for some sort of reform, if that's what we want to call it, to deal with their perceived (and not always unfounded) feelings of injustice in the eyes of the law. In all likelihood, Baltimore is nowhere near the end, but we can still want for things to get worked out quickly.
Until then, all we can do is share our completely unoriginal opinions and pretend we are of the unique minority intelligent enough to see things as they really are. But it makes us feel better, and it makes us feel like we're making some sort of difference. So let's.
