You are right that from "what feels more natural" they are equal, because it is all about what we grew up with. Both scales use arbitrary endpoints. The only important thing is that only one is standardized, used in science and practically everywhere.
Kelvin is based on Celsius, and I would say that it's much better for measuring extremely low temperatures than Rankine (based off Fahrenheit the same way). But who wants to use decimals all the time for normal day stuff? Add ten degrees and you go from comfortable temperature to extremely hot in Celsius.(Slight exaggeration, I know, but you get the point)
I've switched to the other systems you have though, like meters and liters and all that stuff, and I agree those are better.
