Soccer is our Football, American Football is a modified version of our Rugby.

Dang, if paying attention to politics changed things, people might do it. But at this rate, the best most people do is watch the biased junk that comes with youtube videos.
But 'til things change, the population cares more for sports and music, and rightfully so.
Maybe the key is to commercialize it to appeal to the simple minded folk? Just get one of those Japanese announcers.
