random university question

this is something really random but just curios. I know I'm not going to get a full A on this semester in math, but I've never gotten a lower score then an A before and I'm pretty sure I can pull off all A's for the rest of any high school courses I take and the courses I take in HIghschool. This of course will make me lose my 4.0 GPA, but hopefully I'll get a 3.95 GPA or something close to it.

So basically my question is, will that kind of GPA still let me get into Ivy league universities and how much does GPA matter for universities.

Weighted gpa is super important. My brother got one B in high school and he's going off to Dartmouth, so don't kill yourself over it. But yes, take hard classes, get all As, join clubs, be in a sport, volunteer, and try to get an internship at a research lab of some sort. From there, you can't do too much more until you're actually making your applications.

Oh, and play an instrument or two as well.

Make sure you spell "a lot" as two words on your application!
And if you preform exceedingly well on the ASVAB... watch out. The military will do their very best to take you right out of high school.

Beyond that, this is my opinion: Go to school for business, like Harvard Business School. The one thing you can count on in today's market is that you cannot count on any company. The "Go to school, get a good job, and expect retirement" days are going, going, gone. You're either going to work for someone else in your life, or you're going to work for yourself. Working for someone else puts your eggs in their basket. Other people working for you however, places their eggs in your basket. Which do you want?

If you're serious about business ownership, I recommend reading Robert Kiyosaki's Rich Dad series. Start with "Rich Dad Poor Dad".

lol thanks for the spelling catch. wow i never knew about those jobs of good retirement going away and how important learning business could be. thanks for the advice tech! your advice seems to always help me in life.

My pleasure. As I usually state, my advice is worth what you paid for it .
So, look around you. Look everywhere around you right now. Everything you see has a business behind it. The picture frames, the plant pot, the plant itself in the pot, your desk, the property your sitting on, the building you're in and the hundreds of different products that made it, your pen, the ink in your pen, your keyboard... on and on. It's all money, and it all funnels through businesses. Likely, from your current perspective at any given time in your day, there is literally hundreds of thousands, if not millions of dollars in plain sight. Point is, it's not so much what your business does, but rather how you run it. Someone is raking in millions making nails. One of the richest Russians, Andrey Melnichenko, is a multi-billionaire from selling fertilizer. It is often not the "one good idea" that will make you rich, but rather the way you manage your business, whatever the business is.

once again i must thank you techgump for your advice. yah i always thought you had to come with a new great idea like ipods to be rich, i never really thought of just managing a business correctly to get rich.
