In attrition mode, each side rolls as many dice that are in the territory. Each side can lose troops. The losses are based on the resultant sums of each side's dice in comparison to each other. Lopdo has not revealed much about this mode as it is his secret recipe.
However, i can tell you this, usually the losses on each side are about the same, but I've seen an 8 go up against another 8, and the defending 8 did not take any losses, but the attacking 8 was reduced to 1 as if it were HC mode.....but it wasn't
