I don't like the way you guys do tournaments.
For example, if you have 8 players, you guys do
1v2
3v4
5v6
7v8
then winner goes to next round. Assuming winners are the pair numbers
2v4
6v8
winner goes to next round
4v8
winner is 8.
This is unfair because 8 only had to fight against 7, against 6 and against 4. This means that 1, 2, 3, 5 could potentially be stronger than 8, but no one could have the chance to fight against him.
You should do it like this:
1v2, 1v3, 1v4, 1v5, 1v6, 1v7, 1v8, 2v3, 2v4, 2v5, 2v6, 2v7, 2v8, 3v4, 3v5, 3v6, 3v7, 3v8, 4v5, 4v6, 4v7, 4v8, 5v6, 5v7, 5v8, 6v7, 6v8, 7v8
There's 28 matches. One win = one point. This way, every gets to fight everyone, and the true winner can be found. You don't even need to do preliminaries, eliminations or whatever because you will have a score x/28 for each player.
for example:
1 9 points
2 4 points
3 3 points
4 3 points
5 2 points
6 2 points
7 2 points
8 1 points
1 is the winner, 2 gets second place, there's a match between 3 and 4 for third and fourth place, then you have 5v6, 5v7, 6v7 to determine fifth, sixth and seventh place, and eigth player is #8.
Isn't that more fair? It would take longer and be way funner in my opinion...
