Is Tannenbaums too strong?

Every other race has strengths whiich are suited to certain map types, and other map types where they are weak. And there isn't another race which I have seen, which by their very attribute can end a game just like that.

Tannenbaums is the exception to both rules. In the hands of any competent player with their bonus boosts, a player playing Tannenbaums can combine the 20% defence plus the attack boost bonus, and obliterate the opposition's army, by laying the defence boost down right before attacking. There's simply no other race which compares to their destructive capabilities.
Not only that, but they still have the defence boost to defend, and re-attack from. All you need to the 6000 shards to get the 200 defence & attack boost bonuses, can you're a one man killing machine.
No other army can compare to that (not even dragons, which you pay 1000 coins for).

It seems you haven't tried snowflakes.
The guards gaze at you:"Prepare yourselves" If you get the game that is from you are awesome.
