Review Take Two

Greetings world, another review from your very own Z.
Today we go back to one of the things of my past, a little out of the way flash game named Vortex Wars. At the time my review was decidedly negative. In keeping with the spirit of the old times I will challenge myself to be slightly nicer.
Wait, I have this urge to actuall be a lot nicer. Indeed Vortex wars has come a long ways from its humble beginnings. Now premium characters can be bought up and the game features several other new features that seem to have fixed most of my previous problems. Please do keep track of my plusses.
An old problem I personally had with this game that really made me fling was the first player advantage. At the time this was solved by randomly making someone the first player so players couldn't always make maps to keep the advantage on their side. Of course the advantage still existed and was just randomly distributed making wins more lottery than skills. Now things are included such as upgrades, buyable strong races, and a few other gimmicks. Let me explain the upgrades first. Their is the fighting upgrade, which lets you re roll if you fail an attack roll, and the defense, lets your defense position re roll if it fails. Now players can use those to change things to their own advantages. The only drawback is that they cost points so its best not to use them a lot unless you need them. Also players can choose to ban them from their maps, losers who probably wasted em. Thats a Plus for me.
Also the game has recently undergone an upgrade that has removed the previous issues with the choke points. I've been on maps in the past that were one straight line crossed by another, chokepoint all the way. Such maps take literally hours to finish if someone turtles up. Now the map is FORCED to come out more burger shaped than hot dog, a vast improvement if you ask me. Some players may hate the new system but its something that I'm putting in as a plus.
Negatives, and their are still large numbers of em, is that the community, which grew larger, has suffered a minor lapse. As in, I just witnessed two people bickering over nothing and had to shout em down to get em to cut it out. Stupid five year olds, you know who you all are. For shame, FOR shame. The only really good way to solve this problem is either mods on patrol, or a mute button that lets you just play the game without talking or listening.
"Every game devolves into teams," as one player put it but I disagree. Some of the maps actually discourage teams, while players themselves discourage teams period. How about this, add a team mode. SInce everyone likes teams so much I must ask why mr game maker exxxxxxxtraudinare fights the crowd. The mob out side the door wants teams so give it to em already and be done. The draw system is one way for the teams to work but it doesn't always crop up like it should. One negative to chalk in.
Finally the Draw system. Indeed folks now any choke maps that DO appear can be easily solved with a draw. Got stuff to do? Draw. Don't want to waste hours of time on one game that seems to go know where? Draw. The draw works by a vote system. All players must agree. The only problem is that it comes in late game to stop people from reaping rewards from it. Hows about more food for thought? People who don't want to play DONT PLAY. Honestly reaping draw rewards for experience is got to be the dumbest concept ever. Still the maker himself can't be faulted and neither should the game. Thus draw equals plus.
Thats three plusses and two negatives. Some how I muscled past my risk aversion of the day and actually like the game. I enjoy getting out and sitting at the ol lap top (smack smack) and found the game to an enjoyable riskily risk like hexperience (two jokes their for the game players to make up for the past). And so before when I said "You suck" to lapdo i must now change to "Bravo. You sure did a good job in the several months since my last review. Here's a beer, enjoy yourself."
The game is still very much a beta with new releases every other day, some as they occur to the people. Others may have been premeditated. Either way I'm gonna go and find some other game to poke fun at cause I can't do that to this one anymore.
