I hear ya, it isn't written in any manual here in the forums or inside of the game itself.

I myself found it out via others players who PMed me in the lobby (and then in the game as well). When somebody PMs you, you will see their messages in white, instead of the usual text colour.

If you want to get an influx of players onto the game the easiest way is for the game to get badges assigned to it from Kong, I'm sure Lopdo has tried to get it done but I dunno, if the game got badges on kongregate the community would increase exponentially, but with that we'll get an influx of troublesome users as is usually the case...

Kong isnt the only website that hosts VortexWars you know. Im pretty sure the same concept would work for ArmorGames.

yeah, bummer... And thanks to you Lopdo for clearing that up!

By the way, I'm not sure it even works anymore in-game (tried it in a match yesterday). Oh well...
