I won my first game at vortex wars playing against a lvl 8 guy, I took 5 of his man with 3 of mine. Pure luck. One game means nothing.
Edit: I also don't like de Hardcore setting, it kills some of the strategy and leaves the luck
Edit2: I think this is pretty obvious but..... Races with bonus shouldn't be allowed.
In this 7 games you mean every player play against other player?
And this setting are best. You need luck but you need and strategy.
I agree with Medium Map, since Small Map gives the player starting a big advantage.
I don't like Full map, but have nothing against it, it's just a personal.
I don't like Hardcore, I will use something that has happened with me: I was losing the game badly, (I made some bad choices and was to greedy) and the guy had cornered me, in an attrition game, his victory was just a matter of time. But not in hardcore. I managed to break his two territories blocking me and take other 10 of his territorries(because I always won the rolls and lost no troops besides the one that stays in the territory) with the remaining troops. I won. Did I deserve it? No. I was just lucky.
As to the games, I propose something like basketball playoffs.
Best of 7
Ex:
Player 1 x Player 2
1 game(player 1 goes first): Player 1 wins
2 game(player 2 goes first): Player 1 wins
3 game(P1F): Player 2 wins
4 game(P2F): Player 1 wins
5 game(P1F): Player 2 wins
6 game(P2F): Player 1 wins
4x2 Player 1 wins (The game stops before 7 because player 2 situation is irreversible)
You might say, the number of games is odd, so if it comes to the seventh game, one player will be starting more times. Well, let it be random then.
This kind of play will also nullify the efects of going first, so we can play conquer games, which don't rely on the luck of having well distributed troops in your territories.
