As for your initial question, please don't hurt yourself. Think of it like this:
1. One of Lopdo's slaves rolls his dice.
2. The corresponding number of slaves get into two groups.
3. They fight to the death.
4. The result is shown on your screen.
In attrition, it is a fair fight, in HC the bigger group is given assault rifles.
