Scrambled Activity

Postby BigTiger67 » Thu Nov 10, 2011 8:10 pm

Love the game! Today I have noticed several oddities. Skipping turns, not allowing placement of reinforcements, and # of troops changing from one country to another with no apparent reason, and I even got an idle warning saying I needed to do something or be kicked while i wsa active in a game. I must be honest I do not understand completely how HC should work but I have seen lower numbers beating higher numbers and I saw a 1 defend against an 8. All of the games I play have the disabled setting on upgrades so I dont think it is because of the type of armies.

I am not complaining just trying to help the game...hope these bugs go away though! Thanks

were all those problems in single game? it sometimes happens that game goes crazy and do all sorts of crazy stuff, it is quite rare, but you might be (un)lucky enough to see few times per day

It just sounds to me like your pc is not handling the flash game well. You are getting pretty bad lag. Try playing on a better PC, see if you notice a difference.

Techgump, you always say that the problem is PC, at sooo many posts! :x If someone playing have AlienWare i7 extreme PC, and 120Mbs net speed, its still the PCs fault?

This PC is fine..I have played daily for the last 3-4 weeks and never had this problem. Other players in these games experienced this as well so it couldnt be my PC. And no it was not just in one game..2 for sure possibly 3.

I say that because I have 3 different PCs in front of me... and have played on all of them, using the same browser (Google Chrome) and same flash versions (latest).
My 8gig ram, 2.3 ghz processor computer never has issues. I mean never. I had a few disconnect errors a long time ago. But I have not had one disconnect in almost 2 months now, and never have game lag on it of any kind.
My second PC is 2gig ram, 1ghz processor, and it experiences lag sometimes.
My third PC is 512mb ram, 700mhz processor, and is has serious lag and disconnect problems quite often.

Now, we are all accessing the game on the same remote server, I share the same Internet connection with all three PCs with routing priorities the same for all three, and between my brother and I, we play the game multiple times a day. In the same games, he will experience these lag issues (on one of the slower PCs), and I will not. He will get disconnected (on one of the slower PCs) and I will not. So, based on all the evidence I have before me, there is nothing different between everything other than PC. Likewise, these issues BigTiger67 describes sounds exactly like the lag issues we experience on the slower PCs I have (but never on my best PC). So I state and re-iterate, it is probably the PC. The only other possibility is a slow/bad Internet connection, or poor routing between the remote server and user pc that I do not have.

If you were in my shoes, and had experienced what I have day after day, I would assume you would deduce the same logic. Because I state it many times, does not hold any validation to me being incorrect.

this is very interesting information techgump. I never considered that problem could be only on client. I always assumed that there are some problems with server (no wonder I couldn't find any) and never checked client. It is starting to be apparent that client is the problem

Not sure why raonabolutezero commented. I understand you are saying these "symptoms" seem to be from lag, which I have not experienced EVER before and nothing in my environment has changed. But okay say its lag. Why would these symptoms affect other players to where they did not have control over there amys, etc? Because of my lag? Again, I love the game, and it sounds like you are getting defensive because of the other comment. All I am doing is trying to point out possible flaws to be fixed. I really dont need a technical explaination, but if it is my pc well...maybe i will wake up tomorrow and it will work like all previous days before...

Thanks for your time. Keep up the good work.

I am merely offering you background to my experience, and technically explaining to raonabolutezero why I continue to say it is the user's PC. For right or wrong, it is my experience.

Why would these symptoms affect other players to where they did not have control over there amys, etc?

I don't know. I have never experienced this (where another users reported in game lag is affecting me)... and I play many games with many different users every day... typically on the largest of maps (and now mega large custom maps), which tend to be the biggest source of lag based on my brother's experience and other users reporting such. Custom maps can now be 250, larger than any random or previously made map-pack map.

So I say this now also, because maybe you are playing even larger custom maps now than previously, and this is why you are just starting to experienced this "lag" in the last few days... since custom maps were just released. I will also state, even on mid-sized CUSTOM maps, our slower PCs get lag, whereas playing a larger random or map-pack maps, the mid-level PC usually will not have problems. Likewise, another user has reported lag issues only on custom maps (tho I dont know if size of the map is an issue) so it does seem like custom maps require more resources possibly?.... and again, while our slower PCs get the lag, my good PC does not ever, regardless of other player issues, map size, number of players, or random vs map-pack vs custom.

if the other players did not notice it, then it was lag...
