At the very bottom of this page you will see some text which reads "Subscribe Topic". Click this button.
If you have set up your email via the UCP (User Control Panel) you will receive an email each time a post has been made on this topic.
You can do this with all topics that you wish.

As for tips on foruming, follow the rules and be yourself. Some general tips to follow would be:

Stay on topic.
Don't revive dead threads.
Don't bait or flame anybody.

If you keep to those three standards you really won't have any problems.
